BRUMMIES MOVE FOR HAGON

BIRMINGHAM have moved to bring in British Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon to take their Rising Star berth with Jason Edwards set for a spell on the sidelines.

Edwards crashed out at King’s Lynn on Monday with early checks suggesting a fractured left scapula.

Hagon, who started the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership season with the Brummies’ Midlands rivals Leicester, had a spell at Perry Barr in the Championship two years ago, and he is set to rejoin the club when they host Sheffield next week.

Manager Chris Adams said: “You’ve got to feel for Jason because he’s a good kid and he’s really started to get going over the last few weeks.

“He’s got another appointment at the fracture clinic coming up and we’ll know a bit more then, but he’s not going to be ready for a while, that’s for sure.

“The Rising Star list has got some good, young names on it, but Sam Hagon was the one that stood out and sprung to mind instantly.

“He’s been a Birmingham rider before which is a plus, albeit at Championship level, but for me more importantly he’s been a Rising Star in the Premiership.

“He’s got that experience under his belt already and having been let go by Leicester earlier in the year, I’m sure he’ll want to try and grab this opportunity with both hands.”
