THOMPSON RECEIVES SGP2 WILD CARD

IPSWICH and Glasgow youngster Dan Thompson has been handed a permanent Wild Card for the forthcoming SGP2 (World Under-21 Championship) series.

Thompson, who has been in spectacular form for his UK clubs this season, was unable to take his place in the recent SGP2 qualifier at Ashfield after crashing out of the British Under-21 Final and suffering a broken scaphoid.

But he has still been handed a route into the main competition where he will join Belle Vue and Redcar’s Jake Mulford as GB representatives.

Another Aces rider, Norick Blodorn of Germany, qualified for the series whilst the three permanent Wild Cards also include Oxford’s impressive young Australian racer Mitch McDiarmid.

The SGP2 series gets underway at Malilla in Sweden on July 4 with further rounds in Latvia and Denmark.
