PREVIEW: POOLE v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

CAB Direct Championship leaders Poole have the opportunity to go clear at the top when they host Redcar at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

But the defending champions, who won impressively at Glasgow last Friday, expect a tough test against the Bears who have performed strongly in Dorset in the recent past.

The visitors, are however, without Jason Edwards due to his shoulder injury with Joe Thompson coming in to guest, whilst at reserve Sonny Springer stands in for Jody Scott who has a school exam.

Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “We have two evenly matched sides going head-to-head, and it is going to be very tough. Poole fans need no reminding just what Danny King is capable of around here and he has great support from both Charles Wright and Erik Riss.

“That said, we still haven’t seen our side click as a unit so far. There is a lot more to come, I’m sure, from Lewi (Kerr) and Zach (Cook). Those two are more than capable of putting in double figure returns, and so far they have recorded just five between them.

“As a team we really need to get dialled in from the very off and not give Redcar any opportunity whatsoever as they are the kind of side that will capitalise on any gifts.”

Redcar manager Gavin Parr said: “We have run Poole close every year I have been in charge and I believe we can go there and run them close again, but with the side we have there’s no reason that we can’t go there and win.

“Unfortunately Jason is facing a period out which is a big blow, he is superb on and off track and he is a fantastic person to have in the pits.”
