WELCOME WIN FOR COMETS

WORKINGTON pulled off their first Cab Direct Championship victory since mid-June with a 48-42 win over Berwick in a last-heat decider.

Jonas Jeppesen and Drew Kemp sealed the Comets’ success by taking a 5-1 over visiting duo Jye Etheridge and Peter Kildemand in Heat 15.

The result did come at a cost as Tate Zischke was taken to hospital after a Heat 9 tangle with Nick Morris, with the Comets rider suffering concussion.

Kemp (11+1) and Jeppesen (11) got the home side over the line whilst former Comets racer Etheridge piled up 15 points from six rides for the Bandits, who took the aggregate point but really required an away win for their play-off chances.
