WITCHES PLANNING CHANGES

IPSWICH chairman Richard Coleman says consultation is taking place over changes to the Foxhall track ahead of a huge 2027 season for the club.

The Suffolk venue will host the biggest speedway event in its history with the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain taking place on August 14, preceded one night earlier by the SGP2 (World Under-21) equivalent.

Meanwhile in terms of the Witches’ Premiership side, team building will not include GB star Tom Brennan who has announced he is leaving the club after two years.

Coleman said: “There are some limitations with Foxhall in terms of the width of the straight with the stock car track. But we want to try and make some fairly significant changes to the track by increasing the camber by dropping the apexes and widening the bends.

“At the moment, with the way the track camber is, you can’t really use all of the camber, which restricts racing quite a lot.

“The other thing is the material is very, very tired. It has been down for a long time and it’s quite patchy. A lot of that needs to be changed. We are in the consultation period of what we can do within the limitations.”
