PREVIEW: POOLE v PLYMOUTH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

CAB Direct Championship leaders Poole complete their home programme tonight (Wednesday) when they host Plymouth at Wimborne Road.

The Pirates are the only club in the league with a 100 per cent record on their own track, although their advantage at the top of the table is down to three points after the recent run of form from Glasgow.

They name a full-strength side, but the Gladiators are forced into changes with Nicolai Klindt unavailable at No.1 and both reserves out injured.

Klindt has a Danish League commitment tonight which entitles the visitors to a full facility, and they bring in Dan Thompson to guest. Alfie Bowtell and Arran Butcher are both sidelined, with ex-Pirates Darryl Ritchings and Max Perry coming in as replacements.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “Our biggest home score of the season was recorded against Plymouth in the BSN Series, when we beat them 58-32, and with the return fixture coming up this Saturday we could do ourselves some good if we could replicate that score in Wednesday’s league match.

“A solid performance for us would provide that added boost as we will shortly be moving into the business end of the season.

“The message to our lads will be to hit them (Plymouth) hard from the off. The addition of Scott Nicholls has been an inspired move by the Plymouth management, and he has settled into their side well.

“They may well be several points behind us in the league but that doesn’t mean it will be easy for us, especially if we give them any openings.”
