NO GO FOR GILKES

DAN Gilkes has admitted defeat in his bid to get back to racing this season after a serious knee injury.

Gilkes, who had enjoyed a strong start to 2025 with Oxford in the Cab Direct Championship, came to grief at Poole in early May, the incident coming just after he had secured a Rising Star berth in the top-flight with Leicester.

Efforts to return this year have proved to be in vain, and Gilkes will now undergo surgery and prepare for 2026.

He said: “I’m really disappointed not to be back this year, but it’s the right call.

“I’ve loved being part of the Oxford set-up – it’s a great club with great people. I’ll be doing everything I can to come back stronger.”
