PREVIEW: OXFORD v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

OXFORD host Redcar in a key Cab Direct Championship clash tonight (Wednesday) which could prove hugely significant for the play-off race.

The Cheetahs are currently fourth in the table with the Bears sixth, but in real terms the teams are effectively neck-and-neck and better placed than any other club outside the top four.

That means the victory and aggregate point tonight could be all-important with the visitors holding a six-point advantage from the reverse fixture on Teesside.

Oxford are again without Jonas Knudsen due to Danish commitments, and they bring in Jacob Hook to guest whilst rider replacement is in operation for the injured Jordan Jenkins.

Meanwhile Redcar have booked in-form Leon Flint to guest for Erik Riss who continues to be sidelined.

Cheetahs boss Peter Schroeck said: “We did a good job in holding Redcar within six points up there in May and that’s put us in a good position for the aggregate point.

“Our first aim is make sure we win the meeting against the Bears, but ideally we’d like the aggregate point as well.

“Those can make all the difference, and against Redcar, that’s doubly so, because both teams are in the play-off hunt. We’ve got ourselves into the top four, and that’s where we aim to stay.”

Redcar star Danny King said: “It certainly looks like it will be between us and Oxford. We could have done without the (home) Glasgow defeat, but a win tonight would be a great way to bounce back

“Oxford are a very good team, especially at home, but I believe it is a meeting we can get something out of if we all turn up, and that should put us back on track.”
