PREVIEW: OXFORD v EDINBURGH (WSRA NDL)

OXFORD test themselves against newly crowned WSRA NDL champions Edinburgh in their penultimate fixture of the season at Cowley today (Sunday, 5pm).

The Chargers face a Monarchs Academy side who still have a 100 per cent record this season and who were confirmed as title winners when Leicester lost at Middlesbrough last week.

Oxford captain Jody Scott makes his first home appearance since lifting the British Under-19 title, whilst Casper Kluczniak guests at reserve for the retired Mason Watson. The visitors operate rider replacement for James Shanes, who is suspended for withholding services.

Chargers manager Peter Schroeck said: “Last time around at Oxford, the Chargers became the first side to beat Leicester this season. On Sunday, we’re looking to do the same with Edinburgh. Obviously, it won’t be easy, since they have a strong side and they are fully deserving WSRA National League champions.

“But we too have a strong side. There’s no pressure on the lads and I know they will enjoy the opportunity of having a good day and aiming to end Edinburgh’s unbeaten run.

“It’s over a month since our last home meeting, and I hope we can tempt some of the supporters along who watch the Cheetahs but have yet to enjoy the Chargers in action around the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium.

“They won’t be disappointed, because the lads are highly-skilled, never know when they’re beaten, and Edinburgh are very attractive visitors. It’s going to be a terrific early evening of speedway action.”
