PREVIEW: OXFORD V BUXTON (WSRA NDL)
OXFORD complete their WSRA National Development League campaign by hosting Buxton at Cowley tonight (Friday).
The teams are sixth and fifth in the table respectively but either could end the night in second place such is closeness of the league behind runaway champions Edinburgh.
The Chargers include local lad Archie Strong as a replacement for the retired Mason Watson, whilst the Bulls have Charlie Southwick and Harrison Rogers guesting for Jack Smith and Will Boraston.
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “Overall, we’ve seen so much rider progression with the Chargers this season and that’s what it’s all about at this level. For that reason, I’m just as happy with the lads this season as I was last season when we won the league.
“Of course, it would be nice to take a victory over Buxton. There’s no pressure on the lads, but I know they would love to finish their season in a positive fashion.”
Buxton manager Laurence Rogers said: “We are going to Oxford looking to take all three points. We know it will be a tough meeting as they have some good riders, but so do we and we are travelling there looking to win.
“We beat the Chargers at Hi-Edge so if we’re unable to win we will be looking for at minimum the bonus point. We have performed well over the second half of the season and we look forward to continuing that on Friday night.”
