CHARGERS STILL IN CHARGE

OXFORD remain on course for the WSRA National Development League title after a 52-38 win over Steelers at Cowley.

The Chargers did drop an aggregate point having been unable to turn around a 28-point deficit from the away meeting, but they still have a four-point advantage at the top of the table.

Darryl Ritchings led the way for the home side with 13 as they secured the win without unwell skipper Jody Scott with a solid team display, with reserve Arran Butcher riding through the pain barrier after a hand injury.

Luke Harrison racked up an impressive 16 for the Steelers who made several changes to their team.

Butcher said: “It was important for us to get the meeting to a good start and by winning Heat 2, it set the mood. The aggregate point was too far away, so all we could do is make sure that we won the meeting.

“Everyone had a good meeting today and contributed. We’ve added more important points to keep ourselves at the top of the table in our quest to win the league.”
