PREVIEW: OXFORD v KING’S LYNN (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

OXFORD are looking to finally end their King’s Lynn jinx when the sides meet at Cowley in tonight’s (Monday) televised fixture.

The Stars have won all five meetings between the clubs this season, two in the KO Cup and three in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership, including an emphatic 63-27 victory in last week’s reverse fixture.

The Spires are likely to finish sixth in the table, although they do need a maximum of one more point to ensure they complete the season ahead of Birmingham.

Mitch McDiarmid again stands in for the unwell Erik Riss for the home side, whilst the visitors are at full strength.

Spires boss Peter Schroeck said: “We’re looking for good results in our two concluding meetings for the Spires this season, at home to King’s Lynn and Leicester.

“Every team wants to finish the season strongly, no matter how their season has gone.

“We didn’t have a good meeting at King’s Lynn last Monday. I felt Spires had put in some improved performances recently, with good showings at Ipswich and Leicester. However, we had one of those nights at King’s Lynn where nothing went right, but we’ve drawn a line under that.”

Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “It’s a big week with Oxford away and Belle Vue at home, and those are two meetings for us to get our teeth stuck into.

“Two more wins and more points on the board would be nice, and we want to win our last three matches to give us a bit of momentum going into the winter.”
