CHARGERS CHARGE TO LEAGUE TITLE

OXFORD are celebrating their second WSRA National Development League title in three years after a thumping 60-30 win at Middlesbrough.

The Chargers have come out on top in a three-way battle for the top prize, and their total of 20 league points cannot now be matched by either Edinburgh or Leicester.

They were dominant at the ECCO Arena and took any pressure out of the occasion by romping into a 23-7 lead after five races, recording a total of six 5-1s on the day.

Darryl Ritchings scored 11+1 with skipper Jody Scott and Senna Summers both totalling 11, and all three riders dropped their only points to home No.1 Ace Pijper (12) who was unbeaten after being disqualified from Heat 1.

Scott said: “It’s been a long season, but an absolutely fantastic one for the Chargers.

“The goal at the start of the season was to win the WSRA National Development League and take the silverware and we’ve all made it happen. I couldn’t be more proud of the boys.

“When I won my third ride, I saw everyone standing by the air fence on the victory lap and realised that we were league champions. We won it previously in 2023. It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve done it again.”
