ACADEMY ARE 100 PER CENT

WSRA National Development League champions Edinburgh completed a tremendous season with a 100 per cent record thanks to a 53-37 win at Leicester.

The Monarchs Academy had clinched the title last month but they still pushed on to achieve victory in their remaining fixtures.

Captain Jordy Loftus led the way at the Hydroscand Arena with 11+1 and Vinnie Foord added 10+2, whilst Lion Cubs skipper Ben Morley scored 10+1.

The result also saw the home side confirm runners-up position in the table, having required 35 race points on the night.

Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “It feels amazing. Obviously we knew we had won the league a couple of meetings ago and the goal immediately became, can we go unbeaten?

“Everybody was really motivated and we saw that tonight. Leicester are a very, very good team but we did it convincingly.

“All the way to Heat 15 we were still passing and we were just so driven. To win the championship and go unbeaten, I’m just very proud of the entire group.”

Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “We’ve had a great season, and thanks to everyone who has come out week in week out to support these guys.

“On and off the track they’ve been absolutely amazing and I seriously can’t be any prouder of every single one of them. They’ve done fantastic, and that is the future of British Speedway.”
