SCORPIONS ON EASTER COUNTDOWN

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey believes their opening two home meetings will be the perfect way to launch an exciting new season.

The Scorpions host Redcar on Good Friday (April 7) in the BSN Series with an earlier start-time of 5pm, before staging the first Championship league match of 2023 when Oxford visit the Eddie Wright Raceway on April 14.

Godfrey said: “It always seems to be a close encounter between us and Redcar, whether it’s at our place or at their place, and I’m sure this season won’t be any different.

“But there are going to be so many highlights. Our home match against Oxford launches the entire Championship league campaign. We just missed out on the play-offs last season, but this year, I believe we have a team that will make sure we’re right in the mix when it comes to handing out the honours.

“You could then pick out the visit of Poole, the league champions, in August. We pipped them in a total thriller last season, and it again promises to be a terrific meeting.

“I’ve said this before, but the Championship is a very competitive league and every meeting has the potential to be a fantastic meeting. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
