LIONS BOSS BACKS THOMPSONS

LEICESTER boss Stewart Dickson has no fears over elevating 17-year-old twins Dan and Joe Thompson into the senior side this season.

The Thompsons will remain with the Lion Cubs in the National Development League but are also set to line up at reserve in the Championship for the first time as the Lions defend the title.

Dickson said: “We were going to take the chance on the twins a year ago, when it would have been a bigger gamble than it is now.

“If we hadn’t included them last year, I’m 100 per cent sure they would have been lining up for someone else, but we’ve got the confidence in them and I’m never scared to give youth a try.

“If they put on even a point each, or a point and a half between them, it’s still going to be good for us. I don’t have any worries about them at all, and I’m pretty excited to see how they go at Championship level.”
