HAVVY: TEAM SPIRIT THE KEY

POOLE co-boss Gary Havelock says the Pirates will be fired up as a unit to retain the Championship KO Cup when they host Scunthorpe tonight (Saturday).

Havelock oversaw a four-point defeat in the first leg of the Final at the Eddie Wright Raceway last weekend, and he is optimistic they can complete a hat-trick of KO Cup titles with the Pirates unbeaten in that competition since moving to the middle tier in 2021.

The hosts continue to operate rider replacement for the injured Anders Rowe, with the Scorpions naming a full-strength line-up.

Havelock said: “I have been very impressed with the team spirit that exists in this team.

“It was typified by Richard [Lawson] on Sunday in Heat 15 when he quite willingly sacrificed the best gate to Zach [Cook].

“That ethos is so important, and I can assure you that this group of lads are determined to get the job done down at Poole.”

POOLE: Richard Lawson, Anders Rowe r/r, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Steve Worrall, Kyle Newman, Joe Thompson.
SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Simon Lambert, Connor Mountain, Jake Allen, Michael Palm Toft, Drew Kemp, Nathan Ablitt.
