PREVIEW: LEICESTER v OXFORD (NDL)

LEICESTER and Oxford meet in a crunch clash of the NDL’s top two sides at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park tonight (Saturday).

The two sides are favourites to qualify for the Grand Final and something has to give with the Lion Cubs unbeaten at home since joining the league in 2019 whilst the Chargers are on an eight-match winning run.

Leicester bring in Max Clegg to guest for the injured Dan Thompson at No.1, whilst Oxford name a full-strength line-up and bring an 11-point lead into the meeting for the aggregate point.

The match takes place following the Leicester v Sheffield fixture in the Sports Insure Premiership.

Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “Whilst we are currently in the top two after great performances by all of our team with four successive away league wins, there is no doubt that the strong Oxford Chargers are the biggest rivals to us.

“It’s a massive meeting for us as we look to keep our home record going and retain a top two position to the end of the regular season.

“We will be giving everything to fight for the win and challenge as hard as we can for the aggregate point too if possible.”

Chargers youngster Jody Scott said: “We’re in a good position to take the aggregate point, although hopefully we’ll take the away win as well, because we’ve won a few away meetings and we’d like to keep that going.

“The team spirit with the Chargers is amazing. We all get on well with each other, we’re all really good mates and we all help each other out. We know if we keep riding like we did (on Wednesday) that we can end the season with some silverware.”

LEICESTER: Max Clegg, Ashton Boughen, Max Perry, Max James, Joe Thompson, Vinnie Foord, Tom Spencer.
OXFORD: Jordan Jenkins, Jacob Clouting, Ryan Kinsley, Jody Scott, Henry Atkins, Luke Killeen, Jason Garrad.
