ROYALS NAME FIRST TWO

BEN Morley and Danno Verge are returning to Kent as the first confirmed signings for the Royals’ new era at Iwade.

The club will compete in the National Development League under the control of promoter Si Kellow, both riders having raced in the colours of the Kings at nearby Central Park.

Kellow has also confirmed the vastly experienced John Sampford will take charge as team manager, as he did for the Royals last season.

Said Kellow: “I am delighted that Ben wanted to join us in the new Iwade era of Kent league speedway. I’m hopeful that he can become the all-time record points scorer at The Old Gun Site too.

“Although Danno has moved away from his roots, he is 100 per cent a Kent rider. It’s been hard not to let the fans know that their wish was coming true on this signing.

“There aren’t many that have been as closely involved in the sport as John has been. I will admit that I was nervous that he might say no me asking him to be team manager, after his years of being Len Silver’s right-hand man, but he was keen to be involved. We can now get down to the business of finalising the team.”
