SAM STAYING WITH COMETS

WORKINGTON have named Sam McGurk as their first signing as they step up to Championship level in 2024.

17-year-old McGurk enjoyed a successful season with the Comets in the NDL this year and will move into the second tier for the first time with the Northside outfit.

Promoter Andrew Bain said: “We are delighted that Sam is back with us for 2024. Sam has been a pleasure to work with this season, his dedication and commitment to the Comets has been fantastic.

“He has progressed well this season and I’m sure he will kick on next year, and this is a very positive start to our team building for 2024 in the Championship.”
