PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP (500cc/125cc), SCUNTHORPE

THE British Youth Championship moves onto Scunthorpe tonight (Friday) for the 500cc and 125cc classes in a second half event after the Scorpions’ Cab Direct Championship fixture against Edinburgh.

It’s a big night especially for the 125cc class as this will be the last of their seven-round series, so a new British Champion will be crowned tonight with Oliver Bovingdon and Archie Rolph currently tied on 100 points.

With each rider dropping their worst score, Bovingdon is two points ahead, so if both Rolph and Bovingdon makes tonight’s Final and Rolph finishes one place in front of Bovingdon then they will have a run-off for the British title.

In the 500cc class, Ashton Boughen will be hoping to all but seal this British Championship as if he wins tonight, he will effectively just need to compete at the seventh round at Belle Vue in two weeks’ time to win the title.

However, Jody Scott and Sonny Springer both still have an outside chance of winning this championship so they will do all they can to achieve this for as long as it is mathematically possible.

The Young Lions would like to thank the Scunthorpe promotion and their series sponsors for their continued support of British Youth Speedway.

500cc: Billy Budd, Jody Scott, Ashton Vale, Ashton Boughen, Sonny Springer.
125cc: Archie Rolph, Ellis Newell, Ollie Binns, Casper Kluczniak, Oliver Bovingdon, Charlie Luckman, Harry Fletcher.
