DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR COMETS

WORKINGTON have gone top of the National Development League table after completing a weekend double over Berwick.

Comets No.1 Connor Bailey raced to a 17+1 paid maximum from six rides in a 50-40 victory which also saw the Northside outfit collect the aggregate point, with Sam McGurk adding 12 points and reserve Elliot Kelly 10+2.

McGurk said: “It was challenging for everyone but I feel we learnt a lot and by the end of it I think I figured it out, that’s the main thing, and the team won.”

The Bullets battled all the way with Danny Phillips scoring 10 points, whilst Connor Coles (9) and Jamie Halder (8+2) both worked hard to rebuild machinery after problems on Saturday.

Boss Kevin Little said: “They blew engines at Shielfield and it became a case of down to the workshop and burning the midnight oil to make sure that they arrived at Northside with two competitive bikes.

“That shows a huge commitment to the club and their team-mates which I’m glad was rewarded with a good points return.

“It is the sort of attitude that we want to see from riders at Berwick and is one of the reasons we can still take the positives from the results so far this season.”
