FEN TIGERS STEAM THROUGH

MILDENHALL demolished Berwick 67-22 at West Row to march into the National Development League Grand Final by a 42-point aggregate margin.

The Fen Tigers recorded eleven 5-1 advantages in a one-sided second leg with skipper Jason Edwards scoring a 14+1 paid maximum, whilst reserves Luke Harrison (12) and Luke Muff (8+4) were also unbeaten by an opposing rider.

Meanwhile Kyle Bickley accounted for half of the Bullets’ total on the day with 11 points, including two race wins.

Mildenhall face Leicester in the Grand Final, with their home leg to take place at 2pm next Sunday (October 23) which will be followed by the second leg of the KO Cup Final between the clubs.

Harrison said: “It feels absolutely fantastic to get a maximum on my home debut – this week and last week at Berwick has been a great way to get my NDL career started.

“I’m not afraid to go fast – it was good to be beating some experienced and top riders at this level like Kyle.

“I’m so happy to be involved with Mildenhall and contributing to the team’s pursuit of the title. These two meetings have really boosted my confidence and I’m looking forward to the Final now.”

Bullets boss Gary Flint said: “It’s a shame the season ended in such a way, but it shouldn’t detract from the fact that the seven riders who have worn the Bullets colours this season have all contributed to steering the club to its first play-off appearance.

“It was not to be in terms of silverware, but we now start looking at continuing the progress already made into the 2023 season.

“Other than that, we simply have to congratulate Mildenhall on a job well done and wish them well in the Final.”
