LIONS THROUGH TO CUP SEMI

LEICESTER drew 45-45 at Scunthorpe to set up a Championship KO Cup semi-final clash with holders Poole.

The Lions were already 26 points to the good from the first leg and enjoyed a comfortable progression at the Eddie Wright Raceway, in what proved to be a close meeting on the night.

Kyle Howarth (12) and Connor Mountain (10) hit double figures for the visitors, whilst home No.1 Ryan Douglas was the individual star with 17 points, reeling off five wins after missing out to Nick Morris in Heat 1. Jake Allen also scored 11 for the Scorpions.

Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “It was a professional job well done, and I’m pleased with the performance.

“The only real blip came when we conceded a 5-1 in Heat 2 and at that point I was thinking, ‘here we go,’ but we recovered from that quickly and I’m content with 45-45 on the night.

“I could have used Nick or Richie (Worrall) in Heat 15 but to be fair Connor had gone really well and he deserved the extra ride.”

Leicester have confirmed they will stage the first leg of the semi-final against Poole next Saturday (September 10).
