PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v GLASGOW (KOC)
EDINBURGH and Glasgow clash in the first leg of a Bank Holiday KO Cup double at Armadale tonight (Friday).
The Monarchs impressed on their Southern tour this week and are hopeful that their injured duo Lasse Fredriksen and James Sarjeant will be back sooner than expected.
Dillon Ruml guests for Sarjeant on Friday with rider replacement in operation for Fredriksen, against a full-strength Tigers side.
Edinburgh put their rivals out of the Cup in 2018 and 2021 but the Tigers were impressive winners at Armadale earlier this year.
Monarchs boss Alex Harkess said: “We beat them last year when it wasn’t expected that we would, and we also recently pushed them to just a two-point defeat at Ashfield.
“So it isn’t something which is beyond us, to win this tie, but to even start with a home victory which is essential, we need every single rider to do their very best. If anyone is even a shade off then we will struggle.”
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We won in the league at Edinburgh earlier in the season, so we know we are capable there.
“But we also know how good they can be round their own place and no two meetings are the same, so we’ll have to be at our best again.”
