PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v SCUNTHORPE (CAB DIRECT CHAMPIONSHIP)

WORKINGTON are back in action for the first time in nearly a month today (Saturday) when they host Scunthorpe.

The Comets made an impressive start to life back in the Cab Direct Championship and they remain fourth in the table as they return to the GT Tyres Arena.

Aussie youngster Tate Zischke has been declared fit to ride after a heavy crash in Poland last week, whilst Jake Mulford guests for Celina Liebmann who is competing in the FIM Women’s Gold Trophy in Teterow.

The Scorpions, who were beaten at Edinburgh on Friday, track Justin Sedgmen as a guest for the injured Michael Palm Toft whilst Ben Trigger stands in for Luke Harrison who is on Under-19 duty with Great Britain.

Workington boss James Denham said: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a meeting but most of our riders have been kept busy which is important as we get into the crunch part of the season.

“I’m sure Scunthorpe will be looking to avoid a similar result to that of their last visit to Northside and will come out fighting, which is why we need to hit the ground running on Saturday.

“It’s great to have Tate back after his awful crash but we are without Celina; nevertheless, we have definitely got a very capable guest in Jake who has shown his liking for the place during his last visits here.”

WORKINGTON: Craig Cook, Tate Zischke, Antti Vuolas, Claus Vissing, Troy Batchelor, Jake Mulford, Sam McGurk.
SCUNTHORPE: Kyle Howarth, Connor Mountain, Simon Lambert, Jake Allen, Justin Sedgmen, Nathan Ablitt, Ben Trigger.
SCB Referee: Simon Humphrey-Kennett
