TIGERS TARGET TITLE DOUBLE

SHEFFIELD team manager Simon Stead says the club’s focus is already firmly on successfully retaining their Sports Insure Premiership crown.

The Tigers pulled off a history-making comeback in the Grand Final against Ipswich in October as they won the top-flight league title for the first time in their history.

And they have wasted no time in announcing their septet to defend the silverware in 2024, which will be led by Grand Prix stars Jack Holder and Tai Woffinden.

Stead said: “Once you’ve won the league, the real challenge is trying to retain it.

“No matter what your team, you’re there to be shot at and you’re the one team the rest of the league wants to beat.

“But we’ve put together something really, really special and you can see it’s another team built with real ambition and intent.

“It’s got a great balance about it, it’s full of extremely talented speedway riders who all genuinely want to race for Sheffield and it’s a team full of great characters as well which can never be underestimated.”
