WITCHES ARE BACK ON TRACK

IPSWICH manager Ritchie Hawkins says a pre-meeting team talk had the desired effect as the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership leaders took two points at Belle Vue on Monday.

The Witches had lost momentum following their flying start to the season, with injuries playing a part, but Hawkins says the Super Heat victory in Manchester was a great way to kick off the run-in.

And he is predicting a tremendous tussle for league honours in the play-offs next month with their 45-45 draw at the National Speedway Stadium potentially a taste of things to come.

Hawkins said: “We had a team meeting before, on the rest of the season, and they put it all into practice.

“What a brilliant way to get us back rolling in this really important month and get that momentum going into the play-offs.

“It showed that we are still there. Leicester are in great form and are flying, and Sheffield are strengthening their side, so we need to be on top of our game and it was a great way to get back on track.”
