POSTPONED: SHEFFIELD v NORTHAMPTON (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

SHEFFIELD have taken the decision to postpone Thursday’s scheduled home fixture with Northampton due to a worsening weather forecast.
Club bosses have made the call to with rain set to hit the area around 4pm with heavier rain to follow through until an estimated time of 8pm.
The meeting will be re-staged on Wednesday, September 16 (7.30pm) at Owlerton Stadium.

SHEFFIELD can officially seal their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-off place when they host Northampton in their final regular home league fixture of the season tonight (Thursday).

The Tigers know a single league point would be enough to see them secure a place in the top-flight’s top four once again.
They already have a significant points difference advantage over King’s Lynn, who are six points behind them in the standings.

Sheffield operate rider replacement for injured No.1 Jack Holder whilst the visitors, who were 20-4 down after four races on their previous trip to Owlerton, bring in Nathan Ablitt to guest for Mitch McDiarmid who is on SGP2 duty.

Tigers manager Simon Stead said: “After a real dogged home win over Belle Vue and a real battling performance at Ipswich, we’re going into this one with a real flow I feel and some much needed momentum at just the right time.

“We won’t take anything for granted, but we know one league point will seal our place in that top four for another year with one meeting to go before the play-offs and it would be great if we could go into those with some real big confidence behind us.”

Northampton co-promoter Paul Hunsdon said: “Obviously we all remember our last performance at Sheffield when we had a disastrous first four heats, although after that we rode quite well – so we need to ensure we start a lot quicker than we did last time!”
