PREVIEW: LEICESTER v SHEFFIELD (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
LEICESTER and Sheffield meet again in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership tonight (Thursday) – one month on from an explosive KO Cup battle at the Hydroscand Arena.
The Lions got the better of the Tigers in a hotly contested encounter which included a dramatic clash between Kyle Howarth and Josh Pickering where the two riders had to be separated as they returned to the pits.
Leicester reached the Cup Final but league points are at stake tonight with the Lions looking to bounce back from defeat at Northampton last week, whilst the Tigers picked up five points on Bank Holiday Monday against Belle Vue.
The home side operate rider replacement for the injured Dan Thompson whilst his brother Joe has now been signed as Rising Star, and the visitors bring in Nathan Ablitt to guest for the injured Luke Killeen.
Leicester manager Stewart Dickson said: “This is a big meeting for us, and arguably even more so after we slipped up last week at Northampton.
“It’s imperative that we cut out the mistakes from that meeting, which were unlike us, because we know what tough opposition Sheffield are going to provide us with.
“They have plenty of reasons to want to come to Leicester and win, and we have to be ready for that.”
Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “In both of our last two home meetings we’ve come really good right towards the end and with the way we finished against Belle Vue, hopefully we can take something from that into this Leicester meeting.
“They’ve been a bit of a bogey side for us in recent meetings, but we know we’ve got what it takes to beat them.
“We went close there earlier in the season so hopefully we can push them again on Thursday and it would be nice to get an away win on the board.”
