POSTPONED: LEICESTER v IPSWICH (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
BANK Holiday Monday’s scheduled ROWE Motor Oil Premiership match at the Hydroscand Arena between Leicester and Ipswich, has been postponed because of a waterlogged track. A new date will be announced in due course.
LEICESTER are on the verge of securing their place in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-offs ahead of tonight’s (Monday) home clash with Ipswich.
The Lions will be mathematically confirmed in the top four if they take the win and aggregate point against the Witches, with a ten-point margin between the sides from the reverse fixture at Foxhall.
Ipswich, meanwhile are battling to fend off King’s Lynn for fourth place, and they are currently two points ahead of the Stars with this being their match in hand.
Leicester bring in Jordan Jenkins to guest at reserve in place of the retired Kyle Howarth, whilst Nicolai Klindt replaces the injured Scott Nicholls for the visitors.
Lions manager Stewart Dickson said: “We were missing riders at Ipswich so to go down there by ten points was an okay result, although it was a little disappointing as we had been in front early on.
“But I’ve always said the most important thing is that we keep winning at home, and it would be nice to complete an unbeaten record this season although we still have three tough matches to come.
“We still have some work to do to make sure we’re in the play-offs, and we’d like to get that wrapped up as soon possible and then finish as high as we can.”
Witches captain Danny King said: “We really need to get some points on the road just to try and bump ourselves up there a bit more. We’ll just concentrate on them one at a time, and that starts with Leicester on Monday.
“We are very evenly matched teams, and I think you could see that in our meetings both home and away this season.
“They have got the better of us, but it has been close almost every time. It was nice to get the win over them at Foxhall and it would be nice to get the better of them on their turf this time.”
