PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v SHEFFIELD (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

BELLE Vue and Sheffield meet in a big ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Bank Holiday double today (Monday) with both sides requiring points towards their immediate targets.

The Aces host the opening fixture at the National Speedway Stadium at midday, with the action continuing at Owlerton at 7.30pm.

If Belle Vue take the aggregate point across the two matches, they will be confirmed as league leaders ahead of the play-offs.

Meanwhile the Tigers still need to confirm their own top four place, with two more wins likely to be enough for them.

The Aces are at full strength and they welcome back World Cup winners Brady Kurtz and Jason Doyle, as well as manager Mark Lemon, whilst the Tigers track two former Belle Vue riders as guests during the day.

Ben Cook stands in for the injured Jack Holder in the lunchtime meeting in Manchester, with Max Fricke taking over at Sheffield in the evening.

Lemon said: “Meetings between these two clubs rarely disappoint, and with plenty at stake at this stage of the season, I’m sure we’re in for another terrific contest.

“These are always tough encounters and although we remain clear at the top of the table, we certainly don’t underestimate the challenge of the Tigers.

“They are battling to secure a play-off place themselves, and whilst the first job is to complete a 100 per cent home record in the league, it’s also important to us to at least get the aggregate point if we can.”

Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “Things are in our own hands and the lads are collectively determined to secure that top four finish for yet another season.

“We’ve got a really good record at home against Belle Vue in recent times – but I expect this to be our toughest test for a while.

“We are also growing in confidence when all the lads are together, there’s a real good vibe between them all and there’s this determination about them to end this season really strongly.”
