PREVIEW: LEICESTER v IPSWICH (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

LEICESTER No.1 Ryan Douglas has been ruled out of their home clash with Ipswich tonight (Monday) as the teams go into a repeat of last season’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Grand Final.

Douglas suffered a heavy crash in Poland on Sunday and needs to rest, with the Lions quickly bringing in Josh Pickering to guest.

The home side are also without Kyle Howarth after his crash in Thursday’s 49-41 win over Northampton, and they operate rider replacement at No.2.

Meanwhile the Witches are looking for an improvement on their 54-36 defeat at local rivals King’s Lynn, and they have Kevin Juhl Pedersen making his official debut after he was signed to replace Philip Hellstrom-Bangs.

However, they will be without skipper Danny King after he suffered rib damage in a heavy fall at the Adrian Flux Arena which caused him to miss his weekend Championship commitments for Plymouth over the weekend, with rider replacement in operation.

Leicester manager Stewart Dickson said: “I’m sure Ipswich will be keen to bounce back from their result on Thursday, and this is a big week for us as we also travel to Foxhall on Thursday.

“We need to focus on getting a home win first and foremost, if we can get a bigger margin than we managed against Northampton then fine, but at the moment it’s just a case of winning.

“Hopefully the track time on Thursday will have helped some of the boys, but Ipswich have some capable riders and I saw Richard Lawson scoring very well at King’s Lynn, so it won’t be easy.

“They’re probably a bit like us at the moment in that they have one or two riders in indifferent form, but that can change and they can turn it on at any time! I’m expecting a competitive meeting and hopefully it will be another two points on the board.”
