PREVIEW: LEICESTER v IPSWICH (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
ROWE Motor Oil Premiership leaders Ipswich travel to Leicester tonight (Monday) in a big top-three clash at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park.
The Witches are five points clear at the top and have already won in the East Midlands this season, whilst the Lions are one win away from officially confirming their play-off place after a successful summer run of form.
The home side are further boosted by the return of Luke Becker from serious back injuries whilst Kyle Howarth also returns after missing out last week for family reasons.
Lions manager Stewart Dickson said: “It should be a really good meeting, and I know the fans look forward to seeing the big names here and our own boys getting in and about them.
“But Ipswich are a more than capable side even aside from Doyley (Jason Doyle) and Emil (Sayfutdinov), and you look at the scores of Adam Ellis since he moved to No.2 which seems to have really worked for them.
“We are in good form ourselves at the moment, though, and I expect a really close match. It’s one where I’d just be happy with a win of any kind without getting too many ideas about the aggregate point. I want to finish as high up the table as possible.”
Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “Leicester are the in-form team in the league and it will give us a great gauge on where we are before the play-offs start.
“We have done very well at Leicester in the last few years, and it is a track we enjoy going to, but they are full of riders who are in great form, and they are buzzing from winning the Cup and their recent performances.
“It looks like it will be a cracking meeting, and it is one I am looking forward to. If we perform to our highest ability, then we can win at any track so that is what we are focused on doing. The minimum we want is the aggregate point, but we want to win the meeting.”
