PREVIEW: LEICESTER v IPSWICH (PREM KO CUP FINAL)

LEICESTER and Ipswich are locked all-square at 45-45 ahead of the second leg of the Premiership KO Cup Final at the Hydroscand Arena tonight (Thursday).

The holders have home advantage after a strong containing job in Suffolk on Monday, where the Witches required a 4-2 in Heat 15 even to draw on the night.

But Lions boss Stewart Dickson is urging no complacency from his side, whilst Ipswich manager Paul Hurry insists the tie is still open as they head to the East Midlands.
Leicester operate rider replacement for Kyle Howarth who has stepped away from the sport, whilst the Witches are unchanged from the first leg.

Dickson said: “People will have us down as favourites, I know that, because we got the draw at Ipswich on Monday, but the way I look at it we are going to have to ride a whole lot better than we did last Thursday against Belle Vue.

“We need to get the same total that we did in that meeting, which is 46, and that would win us the Cup, and that’s the ultimate target, but we cannot start the way did against Belle Vue. We simply cannot start that way and let Ipswich get momentum.

“I expect a very tough meeting and that will be drummed into the riders on the track walk. There will be no complacency and we can’t afford to get too far ahead of ourselves.”

Hurry said: “I just want the boys to go there, give it their all and enjoy riding their bikes. It’s a level playing field still. It’s one meeting.

“I just want them to give it everything and concentrate. I keep talking about them all clicking at the same time. Let’s hope they do it on Thursday!

“There were a few times on Monday when we were a bit unlucky. But what’s done is done. Monday is history. Let’s move on to the next one at Leicester. We are capable of so much more than we are giving at the moment.”
