PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v IPSWICH (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

ROWE Motor Oil Premiership leaders Belle Vue host defending champions Ipswich tonight (Monday) but they will be without the injured Jason Doyle.

Having recently joined the Aces when Dan Bewley suffered a broken femur, Doyle crashed out of the weekend Grand Prix in Wroclaw and will miss what should have been a clash with his former club.

The remainder of the home side are at full strength with the Witches making a second appearance of the season at the National Speedway Stadium.

On the occasion of the first, they raced into an early eight-point lead before the Aces responded strongly to take a convincing win.

Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “Doyley is badly beaten up after the crash. I spoke to him on Sunday morning and it was a relief to discover there are no fractures, because we were all concerned especially after previous injuries, but he needs rest before we assess when he can return.

“The last time Ipswich were here we made a slow start and found ourselves eight points down after five races.

“Thankfully we were able to regroup, turn things around and record a good win in the end, but I would much rather we start the meeting as we did against Leicester and build pressure from the very first heat.”

Ipswich manager Paul Hurry said: “Hopefully, we can learn from what we did there at the start of the season, maybe push them and get a better result.

“If we don’t beat them, hopefully we can run them close so that we have the chance at home to get the aggregate point.”
