PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v BIRMINGHAM (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

BELLE Vue boss Mark Lemon has branded his top two riders as the best spearhead in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership ahead of the home clash with Birmingham tonight (Monday).

Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley sit second and fourth in the World Championship standings after their exploits in Malilla at the weekend.

Kurtz in particular has been dominant in Manchester of late with three successive maximums, and the Aces will look to add three more league points to their total after slipping up 47-43 on a recent visit to Perry Barr.

Norick Blodorn again misses out after a crash in SGP2 with the home side set to operate rider replacement, whilst former Belle Vue favourite Matej Zagar returns to the NSS with the visitors.

The Brummies welcome back Keynan Rew who missed their match at Sheffield last Thursday, but Ben Barker is out after having his appendix removed, and he is replaced by Antti Vuolas who started the season with the club.

Lemon said: “It’s so satisfying as a club to see Brady and Dan progress to the level they are now at, and I see no reason why they both can’t collect a World Championship medal this year the way they are racing. Which colour it will be, will depend on them. 

“We now have the best spearhead in British speedway. It’s fantastic to watch them both here every week.

“The Brummies management probably haven’t had the reward for the hard work put in. But they still have a very capable side that is capable of giving anyone a very hard meeting. It has been proven time and time again, it’s not wise to underestimate any team in this league.”

Brummies boss Chris Adams said: “We know Belle Vue have got a good home record and of course we’re expecting another tough meeting.

“But we showed at Sheffield that we’re capable of giving these kind of teams a good run for their money – and that was with a couple of the lads having an off night and with us missing Keynan.

“So we’ll go there and give it our best; hopefully we can get off to a positive start and take it from there.”
