ACES SHOW THEIR STRENGTH

ROWE Motor Oil Premiership leaders Belle Vue took another step towards confirming top spot with a massive 55-35 away win at Northampton.

The dominant Aces recorded advantages in each of the first eight races to move into an 18-point lead, and whilst the Foxes did peg things thereafter, there was never any threat to the overall outcome.

German racer Norick Blodorn hit double figures on the road again with 13 points from six rides whilst reserve Tate Zischke won three races to score 11+1, and skipper Brady Kurtz added 11.

Jaimon Lidsey top-scored for the hosts with 12 from six rides, and there was an encouraging home debut from Mitch McDiarmid who scored 5+1.

Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “I didn’t really expect that scoreline to be quite honest, but I guess the boys are riding with a lot of confidence.

“Bomber (Chris Harris) was a good choice of guest, the R/R (for Jason Doyle) worked out for us, and I was really happy with young Tate Zischke, he had a blinder of a night.

“The confidence is really high in the whole camp, and obviously when you’re flying high at the top of the table I guess that’s evident. It’s a nice result tonight.”

Northampton manager Chris Adams: “We had too many last places and the damage was done in the first eight races really. They had heat advantages in all of them.

“You’ve got to take positives from each meeting I suppose, and if we’re looking at the scores from the second half of the meeting we’d be all level, and there were some real positive signs from Adam and Mitch.

“I’m not blaming anything but having only started this year the track has been different each week, and today with the temperatures as they were it was a lot slicker than what it was, plus we had three riders who haven’t ridden here before.”
