ACES CHARGE CLEAR

BELLE Vue extended their lead at the top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table with a thumping 62-28 win over Ipswich at the National Speedway Stadium.

The Aces went one point better than the result they achieved against Leicester one week earlier to underline their current domination in Manchester.

Monday’s score came despite them operating rider replacement for the injured Jason Doyle, with skipper Brady Kurtz racing to a 14+1 paid maximum whilst middle-order duo Zach Cook and Peter Kildemand both starred.

Cook racked up 16+1 from six rides, dropping his only point to Danny King in Heat 5, whilst Kildemand produced several passing moves on his way to 11+3. Hard-working Witches skipper King scored 11 for the visitors.

Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “I was really concerned coming into the meeting missing Jason, who did a fantastic job last week with a 12-point maximum.

“Guest options weren’t available as we would have liked, so I backed the boys with rider replacement and it paid dividends.

“We know they are more than capable, and it does help them to grow in stature when they get more rides, and are winning. It’s great, but we’re not going to get carried away too much.”

Witches manager Paul Hurry said: “They just weren’t at the races. The only two that were at the races were Danny and Tobi (Tobiasz Musielak). Danny did a No.1’s job.

“Danny has decent engines. He makes the best of what he has, and it shows. He hasn’t got the fastest bikes out there, but he puts himself on the line and does the job he knows he can do. It’s the same with Tobi.

“There were no excuses. They are all capable of doing the job that we ask of them, but it takes too long for them to get going on this sort of track.”
