PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v WORKINGTON (NDL)

BELLE Vue and Workington clash twice this weekend in the National Development League – starting tonight (Friday) in Manchester.

The Colts have no room for error if they are to make a late challenge for the top two, but they go into the meeting without James Pearson and Sam Hagon due to commitments in the Cab Direct Championship.

Jacob Hook comes in to guest for Pearson, with rider replacement in operation for Hagon. Jack Shimelt makes his official debut at reserve, whilst the Comets include ex-Colts Sam and Harry McGurk as well as current Aces Rising Star Connor Bailey, and use r/r for Ace Pijper.

Belle Vue co-boss Graham Goodwin said: “We are more than aware that the Comets side contains a number of familiar faces, not least Connor who is piling in the points for the Premiership Aces.

“This will be a challenge, no doubt about it. Even though Workington cannot make the NDL top two, I’m certain they’ll be doing everything they can to spoil our weekend.

“A full five league points are on offer for us in the next 24 hours and if we want to have any chance of making the play-offs then we need to ensure we take every single one of them.”

BELLE VUE: Jacob Hook, Matt Marson, Sam Hagon r/r, Freddy Hodder, Jack Smith, Jack Shimelt, Luke Muff.
WORKINGTON: Connor Bailey, Ace Pijper r/r, Luke Harrison, Luke Crang, Sam McGurk, Elliot Kelly, Harry McGurk, Callum Foy (no.8).
