PREVIEW: SUSAN ROPER MEMORIAL, WORKINGTON

WORKINGTON stage a big 23 heats of action with the Susan Roper Memorial at Northside today (Saturday).

The Comets have assembled a strong line-up for the individual event, with Kyle Bickley making a return to racing after leaving Edinburgh earlier in the season.

The meeting also features another comeback man Steve Boxall along with recently crowned British Youth Champion Ashton Boughen, with the home club represented by Luke Crang, Sam and Harry McGurk, and Elliot Kelly.

Comets promoter Andrew Bain said: “Susan was a special person not just to Workington Speedway but the global speedway family, so what better way to honour Susan than a special meeting dedicated to her. It’s just a shame she isn’t here to witness the New Era of the Comets.

“Susan was popular with promotions and riders up and down the country, she regularly supported riders financially when they were injured or struggling. So this meeting is the least we can do in her memory.”
