PREVIEW: JULIE LEWIS MEMORIAL, Redcar

REDCAR take a break from league racing ahead of the play-offs by staging the annual Julie Lewis Memorial at the Media Prima Arena tonight (Friday).

The event has a unique format starting with a 12-rider individual, with top scorers going into the Main Event to partner the seeded heat-leaders in a Pairs event.

Bears regulars Ryan Kinsley, James Sarjeant and Jordan Jenkins start in the qualifier, with Charles Wright, Lewis Kerr and Jake Allen in the Main Event – and team manager Jade Mudgway will also be making a track return.

Mudgway said: “Tonight’s meeting should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to having a go against the boys as I like to give them a bit of stick, so it’s time I put my money where my mouth is!

“The racing will be fantastic as always. This meeting offers a bit of everything with lots of different riders from different clubs, the aspect of team riding in the pairs event, the chance to see 23 heats of top-class speedway and the young prospects facing off against old wobblers like myself!”
