AUTY TESTIMONIAL SWITCH

JOSH Auty’s Testimonial meeting at Scunthorpe has been brought forward to Saturday March 19 (5pm).

Auty, the Scorpions’ leading all-time points scorer, was due to stage his event – delayed since the pandemic caused its postponement in 2020 – on Good Friday, but rider availability on that date has resulted in a re-think.

Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I wanted Josh’s meeting to be a big success and we offered him a prime date on Good Friday.

“It became obvious that, because a lot of teams ride on Good Friday, rider availability was a nightmare that day and it would have killed the meeting.

“Instead, we’ve offered him another prime date – the very first Saturday of the season. Not a lot of clubs will have started by then and it will be one of the very first meetings of the season, and hopefully it will attract along a lot of supporters.”
