ADVANTAGE TUNGATE
OXFORD star Rohan Tungate leads the Australian Championship as the five-round series approaches its halfway stage.
Tungate won a curtailed second event on home territory at Kurri Kurri on Sunday, scoring 14 points from a possible 15 with the semi-finals and Final not staged due to deteriorating track conditions.
He leads treble champion Max Fricke by three points overall, with the Leicester No.1 finishing third on the night with 12 points.
Defending champion Jack Holder, of Sheffield, also scored 12 and was placed second, as he moved up to fourth in the standings, eight points off the lead. He trails Belle Vue’s Jaimon Lidsey, who is third overall, by one point, with the next round at Albury-Wodonga on Tuesday.
