BERWICK WIN NJL TITLE

BERWICK Academy won the Northern Junior League on Saturday after competing in the final two fixtures of the 2025 season.

Both of the outstanding matches were held at Workington, starting with Workington v Berwick, followed by Berwick v Workington.

At the start of the day Berwick and West Lothian were level at the top of league with 11 points, with Berwick needing at least a draw from one of the fixtures or to protect their race points advantage of +18.

Workington won the first meeting 22-14 meaning Berwick’s race points advantage was down to ten – but they held on in the second as Workington were 21-15 winners, meaning Berwick took the title from West Lothian by just four race points.

SCB Referee Gary Allen presented the trophy to the Berwick Academy manager Colin Easton in the presence of the Berwick riders on the day Owen Booth, Lee Harrison, Fraser Buckle and Rex Austin.

Riders who represented Berwick over the season as well as the four present on the day were Mark Parker, Callum Hague, Ella Marshall, Reggie Ball, Douglas Marshall and Lewis Hague.

The Speedway Control Bureau would like to thank all five clubs Berwick, West Lothian, Workington, Ashfield and Redcar and their team managers for their co-operation over what was another successful season for the Northern Junior League.
