PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v POOLE (Champ)
SCUNTHORPE bid to inflict another Eddie Wright Raceway defeat on Poole when the sides meet in the Championship tonight (Friday).
The Scorpions won the corresponding fixture last season by 16-points and have their sights set on a repeat performance – whilst the Pirates look to hit back from their home defeat to Leicester last time out.
The home side are back to full strength with the return of Tero Aarnio from suspension.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Every match is a biggie now, but they don’t come much bigger than tonight’s fixture against the reigning champions Poole, who are up at the top end of the table as always.
“We had a great win against Glasgow last Friday and we know what we’ve got to do tonight in what is another must-win match.
“Poole came here last year and we managed to beat them, we were one of the few teams who did, and we’ll adopt the same philosophy again and do our best to send them packing.”
Pirates promoter Danny Ford said: “Obviously we would have preferred a home meeting to start building a winning streak again, but it is what it is and we find ourselves facing a difficult task on Friday.
“The lads are going to have to be on their ‘A’-game for this one, the Scorpions are pushing hard for the play-offs and we really want to get back into the top two so that we avoid the quarter finals.”
