PREVIEW: BIRMINGHAM v POOLE (CJL)

BIRMINGHAM aim to complete a 100 per cent home record in the Championship Jubilee League when they host Poole tonight (Wednesday).

The Brummies recorded their biggest win of the season a fortnight ago when Plymouth visited Perry Barr before last week’s late turnaround against Oxford saw them move to the top of the Southern Group – with the Cheetahs now ahead on race points difference.

However, it is the Pirates who remain firm favourites to progress through to the Final after their big win at Plymouth last week.

Birmingham name Lewis Kerr, Kye Thomson and Jason Edwards as guests for injured/unavailable trio Josh Auty, Claus Vissing and James Shanes.

Skipper Ashley Morris said: “We’ve been digging deep and battling our way to some home wins lately.

“We’ll definitely need to do the same again against Poole; everyone knows they’re a strong team this year.

“But anything can happen on the night. We know we can ride our own track now, we’d all just like a bit more consistency.”
Pirates star Richard Lawson said: “I think we are hitting form just at the right time and we now just have to keep the ball rolling.

“On paper we should be able to clean up against Birmingham, but we will keep ourselves grounded and just concentrate on keep doing what we are doing.”
