
MONARCHS ON COURSE
EDINBURGH put one foot firmly in the KO Cup quarter-finals with a 49-41 win at Newcastle in Sunday’s first leg.
Sam Masters was unbeaten until Heat 15 for the Monarchs, scoring 13+1 from five rides, and his defeat came at the hands of Max Clegg who top-scored for the hosts with 10+3.
Elsewhere, Kent kicked off their new era at Iwade with a 49-41 win over a Thurrock Hammers Select side.
Alfie Bowtell scored a 15-point maximum for the Royals with Ben Morley adding 11+1, whilst Nathan Ablitt racked up 13 for the Hammers and reserve Ben Trigger picked up 10.
And Jason Edwards was another maximum man as he scored the full 15 in Mildenhall’s 51-39 victory over the Poultec Select at West Row.
Alex Spooner picked up ten points for the Fen Tigers whilst Thompson twins Joe (10+1) and Dan (10) led the way for the visitors.
