MONARCHS HOLD THE ADVANTAGE

EDINBURGH will take a 16-point lead to Glasgow today (Saturday) for the second leg of their KO Cup quarter-final.

The Monarchs gave their best performance of the season to register a 53-37 home win on Friday, in a major turnaround from the Tigers’ 12-point victory on their previous visit.

Sam Masters led the way with a full 15-point maximum and combined for two late 5-1s with Josh Pickering (12+2) whilst Craig Cook scored eight for the Tigers, who were limited to three race wins.

Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “That was a very good and very determined performance, I was very happy with it.

“There were some really tough first corners out there tonight but we were very competitive, and there were also some excellent overtakes especially by Josh Pickering as usual, and our guest Dillon Ruml.”

The Monarchs are forced into further changes for the second leg with Masters and Pickering racing in Poland for Rawicz, whose fixture takes priority, so Richard Lawson and Justin Sedgmen come in to guest.

GLASGOW: Craig Cook, Connor Bailey, Ulrich Ostergaard, Benjamin Basso, Tom Brennan, Danyon Hume, Broc Nicol.
EDINBURGH: Richard Lawson, Lasse Fredriksen r/r, Kye Thomson, Paco Castagna, Justin Sedgmen, Jacob Hook, Dillon Ruml.
