LEICESTER roared to the top of the early Championship table with a massive 65-24 home win over Newcastle.
It was the third time the Lions have topped the 60-point mark in three home meetings so far, with Nick Morris (14+1) and skipper Kyle Howarth (11+1) both scoring paid maximums.
Richie Worrall added 11 and Connor Mountain scored 9+3 for the dominant hosts, whilst Paul Starke scored 9 for the Diamonds including their sole race victory.
Howarth said: “We’ve done the job and that’s all we can do.
“The lads are determined and work hard as a team, and we’ve had three massive scores in home meetings now.
“You can only beat what’s in front of you but we know there are tougher tests to come, and we’ve got a big weekend to come when we go to Scunthorpe on Friday and then we’re back here against the champions (Poole) on Saturday.”
